My Oki laser printer displays the message “Toner Empty”. I do not have a spare cartridge and I am desperate to print a document.

Can I continue printing without replacing the empty toner cartridge?

Today we will let you in on a simple trick for owners of most Oki laser printers. The trick below will allow you to print a few more pages when the dreaded warning message “Toner [COLOUR] empty appears. Replace it with a new toner cartridge” appears.

Imagine the scene, you urgently need to print a document and you do not have a new toner cartridge on hand. You rush to zinetic.co.uk and you place an order for a cheap compatible oki cartridge

What can you do before the new cartridge arrives?

Simple - you can continue printing for about 20 pages at a time by opening and closing the front cover of the printer (or the output tray) of your OKI laser printer.

This simple trick can be performed up to 5 times to continue printing on most OKI laser printers - and this may just be enough for you while you wait for your new toner cartridge to arrive.

Printing will stop once about 100 pages have been printed.

General things you should note:

You can continue printing in monochrome if black toner (K) remains even when cyan (C), magenta (M) or yellow toner (Y) or any combination of them are empty. (* 123)

Some printer driver settings use cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y) for black and white printing. In such cases, we will not be able to print without cyan (C), magenta (M), or yellow toner (Y).

Because monochrome printing without a colour toner can damage the colour imaging drums, change the colour toner cartridges as soon as possible.
